The future is here. Off World is a Retrofuturist love letter to late 20th Century entertainment — a new event inspired by the worlds and sounds we grew up with: flickering neon, killer robots, rain-soaked pavement, eternal sunsets, cyberpunk skylines, obsolete technology, and relentless midnight drives. A cutting-edge synthwave music festival drives the heartbeat of three days and nights of retro immersion, including a massive themed video arcade, cult and genre film festival, console gaming time capsule, iconic guests and panelists, and above all, a chance to experience the future as imagined by the past without having to invent a time machine.

Off World began as the Neon Retrofuturism Festival in Rhode Island, but it fell into the trap of a cliche “neon”, “gritty”, “aesthetic-only” type of cyberpunk design. It was unable to distinguish itself from the other stereotypical neon triangle and circle cyberpunk music festival. Through its redesign, Off World seeks to embody a new type of cyberpunk, one that is in touch with its etymological roots. Drawing inspiration from binary input and outputs, anti-aliasing/aliasing, the 1980s reimagined, and the amazing thoughts and writings of cyberpunk artists, writers, and musicians, Off World has become an intellectually designed, content driven synthwave music festival, with visual humor and style.
